One of the most magical parts of the island full of natural beauty
A magical area of the island, with natural beauty, countryside, dry stone walls and one of the best pieces of coastline in this part of the Mediterranean. Yachtsmen and bathers favor this part of the island above all others, as the sandiest beaches and most dramatic “hidden” coves are found here.
The Santanyi- Felanitx coastline is dotted with crystalline waters and small sandy beaches, and dozens of small bays protected by high cliffs which make them natural havens for yachts which gather here in the summer. This area is also one of the best wine making zones of Mallorca, famed for full bodied reds such as Anima Negra and 12 Volts. Just inland there are charming villages all with their markets and traditions, particularly Santanyi which has a special atmosphere on market day.
Along the coast to the south is the fishing village of Colonia Sant Jordi, a popular marina from where there are also boat trips to the island of Cabrera. Heading west, the endless stretches of the beach of Es Trenc begin, one of the island`s most important attractions with its gently shelving sands and tropical atmosphere. In Sa Rapita nearby are typical fish restaurants and beyond this is the magical bay of Cala Pi. The inland municipal towns of Campos and Llucmajor are lively centres providing shopping facilities, markets and restaurants.

Campos, Colonia Sant Jordi and Es Trenc
Campos is a market town, 38km east of Palma and municipality where the finest sandy beach in Mallorca is located. The countryside here is very fertile and flat, with picturesque Mallorquin walls and many almond trees whose blossom comes into full bloom in January and February.
To the south is the fishing village and marina of Sa Rapita www.cnrapita.com , with its relaxed pace of life and sea-food restaurants, and a traditional place for summer homes for those living in Palma. Further along the magical bay is the beach of Es Trenc, without doubt the finest stretch of sand in Mallorca, gently sloping into the sea making it ideal for families. It is completely unspoilt, without hotels and only one or two small beach bars to enjoy a drink or snack www.mallorca-beaches.com/es_trenc_beach.htm Further east is the marina and village of Colonia Sant Jordi, where many keep their small boats to explore this beautiful piece of coastline.
Offshore and dominating the view is the impressive island of Cabrera, a nature reserve and reachable by ferry from Colonia San Jordi. www.coloniasantjordi.es/en/branchen/wassersport/bootsausfluge

Santanyi and Felanitx
With its abundance of pretty inland villages, unspoilt scenery and small beaches and coves, the Santanyi and Felantix area is one of the best places on the island to spend the summer months.
Santanyi lies 53 Km east of Palma, a pretty market town built completely in yellow sandstone. It is a home to many artists and here you will find galleries, coffee bars and restaurants but most of all, a very relaxed, cultured way of life. In this municipality – together with neighbouring Felanitx – is the biggest concentration of “calas” or little bays, with clear waters and havens for yachts and small day boats in summer time. Cala Mondrago, Cala Figuera, Cala Santanyi and Cala Llombards are the best known. Cala d´Or is also popular as a place to eat and tourist destination. It has its own marina and yacht club www.yccalador.com
Felanitx is also just over 50km from Palma, and the municipality includes the mountain of San Salvador with its historic restaurant and mirador and the idyllic fishing village of Portocolom. Felanitx is also famous as the birthplace of the great artist Miguel Barcelo, and home to some of the island`s best wines including Anima Negra and “12 Volts”, a rich red wine with a unique flavor www.4kilos.com/index.php . Portocolom is one of the largest natural harbours in Europe, with beautiful painted fishermen`s houses, bars and seafood restaurants www.restaurant-portocolom.com . Over time the village has kept away development on the harbour front, giving it a timeless feel and a very relaxed pace of life. Just inland is the golf club of Vall d`Or, one of the most scenic in Mallorca with an excellent clubhouse and restaurant, with live events held in the summer. www.valldorgolfclub.com/golfclub/casaclub_es.php
